For over ten years I have designed and built products from the first conversation to production. For GPS Dozor, I independently built the GPS Dozor 4.0, Findee Pets and Findee Guardian mobile apps.

Client apps and products of my own. For each one I set out what I was responsible for, the decisions I made and how they turned out.
I want to know why.
Then I work out how.
Before I propose a solution, I want to understand the whole product: why it exists, who uses it and what it has to handle. I work it out together with the client and the team, and a good argument is reason enough to change the design or the technical approach.

Before I choose a tool, I want to see the operation, the data and the people who will use the product.
Simple and understandable.
A good solution must still make sense to someone other than me a year later. That usually means fewer layers, not more.
Operations are part of the design.
I plan deployment, monitoring, backups and behaviour during outages while designing, not after the first incident.
Plan for the next version, too.
I design with maintenance, handover and further development in mind. A product changes along with the people who use it.
And then I close
the laptop.
Development is a big part of my life. Not all of it.
